Hamburger Steaks in Creamy Dill Sauce

Juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a rich and creamy dill sauce, perfect for a comforting and flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  3. Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, until browned and cooked through. Remove patties and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in beef broth and use a wooden spoon to scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  6. Reduce heat to low and stir in sour cream, Dijon mustard, and fresh dill until well combined. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spoon the creamy dill sauce over them, and heat through for 2 minutes.
  8. Serve the steaks hot, garnished with extra dill if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables. You can substitute fresh dill with dried dill if needed, but use less.
